Engineering background as evidenced by successful completion of technical projects, technical presentations and authoring technical reports.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated by effective interactions with all levels of management, staff, and customers.
Demonstrated expertise in presenting highly complex technical information to a non-technical audience in an understandable format, as well as to technical experts in appropriate detail.
Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and organize assignments; to identify, address, and resolve technical problems; and to use a systematic approach in solving problems.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and completeness throughout assignment execution to ensure planned results are achieved;
Demonstrated experience working independently with minimum supervision, as well as effectively as part of a team in a multi-discipline environment.
About The Position
Comply with the requirements of the LANL Weapon Response Process (W-SE-0023U), DOE-NA-STD-3016, Hazard Analysis Reports for Nuclear Explosive Operations and U.S. Code of Federal Regulations 10 CFR 830, Nuclear Safety Management (Subpart A – Quality Assurance Requirements; Subpart B – Safety Basis Requirements);
Work effectively as an R&D Engineer 3 with other LANL Weapon Response Analysts, System Engineers, managers and technical professionals;
Work effectively with counterparts at Sandia National Laboratories, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Pantex and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) personnel;
Produce high-quality deliverables (e.g., Weapons Response Technical Basis documents, Weapon Response Summary Documents, and technical reports) on schedule; and
Accommodate the need for moderate travel (mainly to Pantex and Sandia National Laboratories).
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
for access to classified matter.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
